Meet & Greet / Remembering Sand Creek
Our celebration will kick-off with a “Meet & Greet” your family and friends at 6 p.m. in the Riverside Park. Following at 7 pm, an opening ceremony of “Remembering Sand Creek” will commence. Currently “on-board” are dignitaries, home-town heroes, a community choir, with more ideas in the works. This birthday party wouldn’t be complete without having Sand Creek’s biggest birthday cake ever -- complete with 150 candles -- for our grand finale.
We invite you, and all “Sand Creeker’s” (current, former, anyone with ties!) to participate with your talents. Want to get involved in the entertainment? Contact Doug Madison at …
Help with baking 1 of the 9x13 cakes needed? or icing the cake? Contact Carolyn Dahl at (715) 658-1872 or rodcar@chibardun.net
Join us for this once-in-a-lifetime event on Thursday night – a definite a “Don’t Miss”!!!!
Ecumenical Community Church Service
A Sesquicentennial Ecumenical church service will be held on Sunday morning at 10 am for everyone. The committee for Sunday’s worship service extends an invitation to sons and daughters of the community who have pursued a clerical occupation to take part. Please contact Carolyn Dahl at (715) 658-1872 or rodcar@chibardun.net
Friday Night Dance
Signature sponsor, Red Cedar Companies, invites you to kick up your heels to this all time favorite crowd pleasing duo called The Gators. Performing a variety of genre, from old and new country, to 60’s, 70’s southern rock, jazz, blues, disco, a bit of rock ‘n roll not to mention the old goodies of a polka or waltz -- you are guaranteed a great show!
Saturday Night Dance
Our Signature sponsor, Gilberts Motors, invite you to sport your 1965 attire while you “Twist and Shout” under the stars with The Thundermen, the acclaimed, original and authentic rock n’ roll band from Eau Claire. Entertaining audiences since 1959, this all-time favorite band is a flashback to the 60’s … remembering our yester years of 1965 and our centennial celebration.
Sand Creek’s Grand Parade
Held on Saturday, July 18, 2015, Sand Creek’s Sesquicentennial Parade will begin promptly at 2 pm with the children’s parade kicking it off.
The parade will run its usual route from the school ball field to the New Hope Lutheran Church.
Prizes will be awarded for Best Music, Most Creative, and best Centennial Themed entry (1865, 1965, or 2065).
Prizes will be awarded to most creative kids entries.
“We look forward to celebrating Sand Creek’s 150th birthday in style,” said Chairperson Cece Cruse. She will start taking entries the 1st of December until the day of the parade; line-up will begin at 1pm at the school ball field and will be handled by community members, family and friends.
